Watch out for patrols - and Drake may be expecting you. This video by NotyourusualZero attempts to put this unused dialogue back into the final game's mission. McCall out.Ī section that seems like it would belong in an earlier version of the FMV for Equinox, where Bond would have to sneak into Drake's defense platform while also possibly rescuing members of the original crew as hostages. I've rather enjoyed your company, James.do be careful. I've no idea how you'll put a stop to all this. His next move is to upgrade the missiles with the nukes aboard the second shuttle, which is already docked. I can tell you that Drake's deployed a laser defense net which draws power from the platform's core. Some of the original crew might still be alive, but I can't confirm that. James, I'm still patched into Drake's com system - I've intercepted enough radio chatter to learn that Drake's Combat Troops have overtaken the defense platform. There exists unused dialogue that heavily implies a different beginning to the game's final mission, Equinox. Unused dialogue implies that there was a beginning section to Equinox that was scrapped, so these two objectives could have originally had something to do with that content. Just like the above text, however these exist right before the objectives of Equinox, the game's final mission. These placeholder objectives are listed right before Countdown's objective text. The Mission Objective 5 text is either a placeholder, or a sign that whatever mission this may have been for only had four objectives. Considering their location, it's entirely possible that these objectives were originally used for the scrapped mission, Streets of Tokyo, or for something else entirely. Located right after Phoenix Fire's information in the text strings are a set of objectives that don't find use in any of the final missions. Unused Objective Text Disable all security measures before using the lift No map data remains for any of these cut missions. For example, in the final game Hidden Agenda's main objective is covered in the stage Chain Reaction Atoll Infiltration's objective is covered by Deep Descent and Island Infiltration has a distinct second half that takes place along a river that renders it the longest stage in the game, possibly a result of absorbing River Gauntlet. That, or they were just deemed unnecessary to the overall plot. Some of these missions sound very similar to missions they lie either before or after, so they may have originally been alternate versions of the final missions we got. "Prevent a hostile takeover of the missile defense platform.and save the world."Īside from the "Training" mission at the start, these cut missions give off the impression that the latter half of the game's story was trimmed extensively when compared with what they originally intended. "Covertly make your way into the secret underwater base and pursue Drake." "Infiltrate Drake's Disarmament Facility." "Destroy the air defense system that protects the island from attack." "Sabotage the island's radar jamming devices so you can open the way for MI6 forces." "Reach Drake's private island undetected." "Use the special abilities of Q's Vanquish to infiltrate Drake's secret island base." "Flee the scene and head for Q's mobile headquarters." "Escape Kiko's trap and get out of the skyscraper alive." "Determine how Drake is secretly using the decommissioned power plant." "Infiltrate a nuclear power plant in the process of being decommissioned by Phoenix Industries." "Covertly access Mayhew's headquarters and retrieve data from the company computer system." "Rendezvous with Alexander Mayhew, a traitor in Drake's organization." "Race to meet Q at the extraction point." "Make your escape with Zoe on an unarmored snowmobile." "Drop in on Raphael Drake's reception and rendezvous with undercover agents." "Prevent a rogue faction from putting a damper on the New Year's celebrations in Paris." "Learn basic weapon and gadget skills in Q's evaluation center." Included along with the rest to get an idea of where they fit in the game's story, these missions end up looking like: Within the tables for mission titles and descriptions, there are text strings for both titles and descriptions of several cut missions hidden among the normal set. Along with cleaning, waxing must also be included as a part of your annual boat maintenance task, and you can also choose to wax your boat more frequently if it is exposed to UV rays for a longer period of time. The extent of damage caused by harmful UV rays can be reduced considerably by using a compound boat wax that is compatible with your boat’s exterior. It is a good practice to change your oil regularly, otherwise, the engine could seize up unexpectedly, causing a boat accident or leaving you stranded out on the water.Tilting an outboard motor up will not only protect it from corrosion, but will also keep it clear of any unwanted barnacles and prevent it from anything that it can bang into underwater. Therefore, you should remember to tilt the outboard up before keeping your boat docked in the water. Since salt water can accelerate corrosion and rust in metal, leaving your motor to soak in it for a long period of time is bound to cause some damage.Another significant advantage of lubrication is that it can reduce friction, allowing machine parts to slide smoothly past each other. It can also help protect sensitive metal parts from corrosion easily. You should make sure to lubricate any metal moving parts with marine grease regularly, as lubrication not only provides cooling but can also remove any debris or impurities. It is important to maintain the gelcoat and keep your boat polished as this doesn’t just improve its appearance, but also ensures that the slick surface repels salt water, barnacles, and other organisms that might eat away at the hull. You need to pay special attention to the deck hardware and the pulleys and also ensure that the cockpit and the mast are washed. You must scrub down everything, including the exterior and the interior to get rid of the salt.If you store your boat outside where wind can coat it in saltwater spray, then you will have to ensure that it gets a regular rinse with fresh water whether you have used it or not. You need to pay special attention to metal and wooden parts, including fishing rod holders, cleats, and anchors. After every outing, you’ll have to rinse and flush out the entire boat, from bow to stern, and wipe down the stainless and varnished teak with boat cleaning supplies.Crystals from the salt water can scratch and cause abrasions to your boat and the salt from the ocean can easily destroy a new boat quickly, leaving it full of rust and deterioration. It is important to give your boat regular, thorough washes, especially after a day out in the sea, as salt water can cause devastating damage to boats if left without proper maintenance. These boat protection tips are crucial and will allow you to enjoy your time in the sun while prolonging your boat’s lifespan. In this post, we will cover some important points that will teach you how to protect your boat seats from the sun and we will also explain what needs to be done to protect your boat from hazardous elements. 6 Tips for Boat ProtectionĪs part of your boat’s regular maintenance, it is very important to protect every surface possible from corrosive salt damage, UV rays, and other hazardous elements. It is true that salt can accelerate wear and tear on almost every surface, but the excess rust that it leads to and the damage that it can cause to the motor is very problematic. If you’re taking your boat out on the ocean, it will always be at the risk of damage from saltwater as it can damage any part of your boat, from the gel coat to rubber fittings to small screws and metal fixtures. In addition to UV rays, algae, and debris can also cause damage to your beloved boat. UV rays can damage your boat’s vinyl furniture, flooring, and other components. Getting out in the sun is one of the main reasons why people go boating however, the sun’s rays can cause considerable damage to your boat. Boating is a great way to escape from the stressful modern life whether you are hitting the water for a whole weekend or just a few hours. Once you are on the deck, it’s just you, fresh air, and water wherever you look. Stepping on a boat allows you to experience that shot of freedom and relaxation as you pull away from dry land.īoating can boost your well-being and it is proven to have various health benefits. Boating helps you reconnect with nature, and having your own boat can make your favorite water activities much easier. There is nothing quite like the joy of going out onto a lake, a river, or the sea and spending the day on your boat with family and friends. Every 15 days or so, the water coursing through each map dries up. In place of Winter though, your looming threat is drought. Build a sawmill, plant crops, plant new trees, etc, etc. Forage for berries, chop trees, build dens so people will breed, then build a science hut to unlock new stuff. Humanity has long gone, and it's your time to shine by building a settlement that isn’t all that different, really. They all have things to delight in, and that's where Timberborn really shines once you realise what it's doing. Or consider Ostriv, where the watching itself was a delight. And that's a game where people will kill each other over idiotic nonsense like not eating at a table.īut I think that's the key: those games had more to do than watching to see who would survive the cold. I voluntarily played RimWorld almost exclusively as a desert mountain tribe who refused electricity, struggling to eke crops out of the thin, scattered patches of arable land, and balance the tiny fuel supply between preserving enough food and keeping the cave warm. Perhaps I got lucky, but I survived the winters fine, and the game seemed to consist mostly of repeatedly moving workers back and forth while yelling at them to breed faster, like a hybrid of an understaffed CEO and a 30 year old's pushy mum.Īnd yet, I love Workers & Resources, in which you will lose your first town by failing to anticipate how to set up public heating infrastructure ( my favourite village largely forestalled this as the modded huts came with their own heating system, simulating villagers gathering their own firewood at the cost of poorer health). No disrespect to Banished, but I never got on with it. I guess the main thing is I'm tired of playing Banished again. What am I asking for, the game to play itself? For my problems to be magically solved by enterprising peasants? For games about preparation to cut out preparation? Ach. When your hands are tied in a way that feels artificial and dissatisfying, and when there's no amusement or awe to be had from watching the tower collapse. It’s not even about “difficulty”, but degree of entertainment. It's a tricky feeling to elucidate but you know it's happening when you have no option but to watch your game slowly fall apart and your society die out because of a technicality. Does nobody in this village want to live? Faced with the starvation of your entire family, would you stare at the woodcutter's hut with the big sign reading "3 / 3 workers", and the fields full of crops, and the two-thirds of a building to store them in, and simply resign yourself to death? When you reach a point where you need three wood to build the last granary, but you only have two wood, and therefore your entire settlement is now mathematically doomed. The issue I have isn't when they're difficult, but when there's no leeway. The ones where you settle in a wilderness and have to quickly gather enough wood and food to last through winter, and that's typically all the game's about. My initial complaint comes up often in survival-based building games. Parametric solid modeling is driven by intelligent dimensions, meaning that the software automatically recomputes designs to accommodate changes to a single dimension, thereby maintaining the design's dimensional accuracy without necessitating manual adjustment of each dimension. It allows users to create modeled representations of concepts to facilitate design and manufacturing, with 2D and 3D functionality. Īlibre Design is based on the ACIS modeling kernel from Spatial, and a 2D and 3D constraint solving system from Siemens PLM, among other technologies. Alibre's purported aim in this development was to give businesses a cost-effective way to geographically distribute teams by enabling networked design environments without incurring large capital expenditures. Following this development, Alibre received a patent for "System and method for solid modeling," protecting their technologies for generating 3D geometries across a high bandwidth, distributed network. The environment operated on a web-browser and allowed multiple users to work on the same design simultaneously. Founded in 1997, Alibre began working closely with Microsoft in 1998 to develop the first web-based collaborative 3D design environment. If you twist my arm I’d say the second best reader is NewsFire so check it out if you don’t want to pay for Reeder. I’m running an older free beta, but nowadays Reeder will set you back US$10. If you’re invested in the Apple ecosystem it’s available on iOS too, so you’ll feel right at home on whichever iDevice you’re using it. Is Reeder the best RSS reader of all time? You decide, but it’s fantastic and integrates swimmingly with Google Reader. There’s not much more I can say here, it’s pretty much the be all and end all for instant messaging clients on the Mac and, it’s free. Adium consolidates communication across these services and many more into one application. You’ve got friends on Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, Facebook Chat and if you’re old school, IRC. It’s a brilliant text editor to have lying around and I’d feel incomplete without it. Although I don’t use it primarily for development, it can do syntax highlighting and it has built-in FTP/SFTP support. When it comes to text editors on the Mac, BBEdit is king and TextMate is queen, but they both cost around US$50. It’s free for 20 days, but you’ll have to drop a hefty US$15 to keep the party going. The ebb and flow of my OCD absolutely makes Overflow critical to my sanity. Everything I don’t want to display in the OS X Dock goes into Overflow. My Dock has only three icons: Finder, Downloads and Trash. Also check out Launchbar and Quicksilver to compare functionality. You can also extend Alfred’s functionality with third party extensions and global hot keys. I use the free version, but if you get the paid version you can control iTunes, see and save your clipboard history and email people, all directly from Alfred. You can also use the built-in Mac calculator and dictionary directly from Alfred. It’s the killer feature that makes it impossible for me to live without. There’s no need to switch to your browser to search Google, Wikipedia and Amazon for anything. One of the biggest ways in which Alfred excels is the way it can launch web searches directly from a keyboard shortcut. Spotlight is great, but it can be better. It’s one of the most indispensable free apps I have. AppCleaner does its very best to remove all remnants of an app from your system. Often preference and application support files remain on the file system which can add up to lost disk space over time. Sadly that’s not really where the story ends. I opted for the paid version to use Fluid apps in full screen mode, but the free version is just as great. Think about web applications like Gmail, Facebook, Campfire and Pandora all running the same way. I can now launch Docs from Spotlight, place it on the Dock, Force Quit if I need to and run it as a full screen app in Lion. Unfortunately, until Google releases a native Docs client most of us are stuck with using Docs in a browser tab, or are we? Meet Fluid, the app that lets you create a real Mac app (or “Fluid App”) out of any website or web application, effectively turning your favorite web apps into OS X desktop apps. If you asked me which is more indispensable, Google Docs or Gmail, I’d stare at you blankly. The paid version gets rid of the ads and lets you use multiple accounts. I used Gmail’s web app for years, but now that I’ve experienced Sparrow’s unified Gmail inbox for multiple accounts and built-in Dropbox support, I will get into a physical altercation with anyone that tried to make me use anything else. Mailplane came close, but Sparrow changed my life, for the better. Until Sparrow came along there were no good alternatives. It had to be a client specifically designed with Gmail in mind. Firstly, I am - like many of you - a massive Gmail fan, so not just any native Mac email client would do. It’s difficult for me to express in words the love I have for this email client. |
